About the Webinar:
Increasingly, organic commodities are being transported internationally or domestically in bulk ships and barges and passing through large port or transloading/elevator facilities where they are transferred to railcars or offsite warehouses. At the same time, few inspectors are trained in the relevant organic control points and terminology, understand the nature of these complex supply chains, or are prepared to perform these kinds of inspections. Ports in particular, because they are considered secure facilities, like airports, can be a challenging location for inspectors to visit, especially for unannounced inspections.
This advanced training will focus on specific OCPs for these kinds of inspections, well as the terminology, key players and other factors at play when product is moved on bulk ships and/or moved through transloading facilities involving barges, trucks or rail cars. We will discuss the steps necessary to perform a UAI at a port facility. A demonstrated audit trail exercise will also involve realistic examples, drawn from recent work the members of the OIC have been performing in this sector over the last six years.

*Garth Kahl- IOIA Trainer and one of the founders of the Organic Integrity Cooperative. Garth's background includes over 30 years of work as an organic inspector in all scopes, with a focus of international inspections and complex supply chains.
*Andrew Black - President of the Organic Integrity Cooperative. Andrew has over 20 years inspecting and overseeing international organic supply chains, both in the US and Latin America.
The Organic Integrity Cooperative is a cooperative of organic inspectors, trainers, and consultants. They specialize in tailored compliance consulting and investigation, training, and internal audits that strengthen certification and quality systems.

Requirements
Criteria to receive a Certificate of Completion for Advanced Training include having conducted at least 20 inspections and completion of at least one basic inspector training. Others are welcome to register but will receive a Certificate of SCTA Workshop.
