Date: November 08 2024
Non member Price: $175

Course Description

Elevate your expertise in organic certification by joining the IOIA and SOS’s exclusive training on the Organic Livestock and Poultry Standards (OLPS) presented by expert advisors Johanna Phillips and Kim Dietz. Designed specifically for organic auditors and inspectors, this intensive 2-hour session offers valuable insights into the USDA's new OLPS regulations, ensuring you are fully equipped to uphold the highest standards of organic integrity and animal welfare. The Final Rule’s effective date January 12, 2024, and we are nearing the end of the 1-year implementation period for most producers. However, existing certified poultry broiler and layer operations have more time – until January 2029.

Training will cover:

  • Comprehensive OLPS Overview: Gain a thorough understanding of the OLPS, focusing on the critical objectives in living conditions, outdoor access, animal welfare, and preserving organic integrity across livestock and poultry operations. Explore detailed standards encompassing living conditions, health and welfare, outdoor access, and transportation provisions, crucial for compliance.
  • Hands-On Inspection Procedures: Receive practical guidance on specific inspection techniques for assessing livestock and poultry facilities, boosting your capability to conduct thorough evaluations.
  • Navigating Compliance Challenges: Engage in discussions about potential compliance issues, arming yourself with strategies to address these effectively.
  • Interactive Q&A and Resources Session: Take advantage of an open forum to ask your toughest questions and gain clarity on applying the standards in the field, supplemented by additional resources for ongoing support.

This training is an essential opportunity for auditors and inspectors looking to master the intricacies of organic livestock and poultry certification. Equip yourself with the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure compliance, uphold the integrity of organic standards, and enhance your professional skill set within the organic certification landscape. Don't miss this chance to become a leader in the field of organic livestock and poultry certification.
