Organic Inspector Training
Retalhuleu, Guatemala
- February 25 - March 4
IOIA will sponsor Advanced Organic Inspector Training on March 3-4, in conjunction with the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting on March 2, 2008. English and Spanish language offerings will be offered. IOIA and MAYACERT-FAUSAC-MAGA-FARMAYA-CEMAT will cosponsor 4.5 day Basic Organic Crop Inspection Training using USDA National Organic Standards as a reference. The course will be held at IRTRA in Retalhuleu, Guatemala from February 25-29, 2008. Instruction will be conducted in Spanish. Please contact Noé Rivera (MAYACERT) or Lidia M. 10:30 We arrive to Panajachel the main town in front to the Lake to take a boat ride through it and visit 3 small towns at the other side of the lake at 4:00p.m. returning to Antigua arriving aprox. at 6:30hrs.

Canopy Tour at Filadelfia Estate: US$ 50.00 p/p

Depart from main square to San Felipe de Jesus (2 kms. away) where you will enjoy this special activity with 6 throws from 30 until 200 meters .

This trip has duration of 2 hours approximately in a place with 2000' altitude.

Take the transfer from one of the corners of main plaza at 8:30 a.m., 10:30
a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and at the end they will take you back to the same place.

Description of Museums:

Popol Vuh: If you have an interest in Mayan and Colonial art you should not miss this
museum.

Ixchel Museum: This museum opened in 1973 as a non-profit private organization. The museum has a vast collection of textiles dating back to the end of the last century to our days.

The Archeology and Ethnology Museum: Exhibits part of the legacy of the Mayan culture, from object of jade and obsidian to ceramic. Stelae and tombs of royalty.
